3 Must-Have Authentic Vietnamese Meals

Blog

Looking for something new to eat? If you are feeling adventurous, you might want to try some Vietnamese food. There are a few authentic Vietnamese food options that you should try because of how good they taste.

Banh Mi

If you like sandwiches, you will love Banh Mi. Although the term means bread, it also refers to sandwiches that are commonly served in Vietnam and at Vietnamese restaurants across the country. The bread itself is fresh and filling, but the ingredients that go inside of the bread take things to a new level. Unlike traditional lunchmeat that is added to bread to make a sandwich, such as ham and bologna, Banh Mi often contains a touch of mayo with minced pieces of pork, pickled carrots, and fresh cilantro. Additional ingredients may be added upon request and will vary from one Vietnamese restaurant to the next. If you have yet to taste a Banh Mi sandwich, you are missing out!

Chicken or Beef Pho

Pho is a popular Vietnamese dish that is perfect to eat on cold days when you need something flavorful to fill you up and keep you warm. It has been served in Vietnamese households for hundreds of years, but it gained popularity in the United States in recent years. A bowl of pho will typically contain a flavorful broth, fresh slivers of meat, cilantro, beansprouts, onion slices, and rice noodles. Spices are added to the broth to give it more flavor. While chicken and beef are two of the most common types of pho, other options are available for those that do not eat meat, including seafood pho and tofu pho. People often say that pho is the type of meal to have when you are feeling sick. The natural spices and herbs added to the dish can make you feel a lot better when you have a cold. Not only is pho delicious, but it is also good for you and fairly low in calories.

Spring Rolls

When you want something light and refreshing, Vietnamese spring rolls are a great appetizer. A blend of fresh ingredients, such as basil, cilantro, carrot slivers, and shrimp are put into rice wrappers. The spring rolls are then steamed or fried, depending on how you prefer to eat them. If you want that crunch with each bite, fried spring rolls are the absolute best.

Many delicious meals originated in Vietnam and are now served in the United States at different restaurants. If you want to try great Vietnamese food made with fresh ingredients, try a Banh Mi sandwich, some pho, and a few spring rolls. Learn more about Asian food and restaurants in your area today.

How to Save Money When Eating Out

Welcome to my website. My name is Joanne Taylor. My family and I love eating out at restaurants, but with there being five of us, it can get expensive. In order to be able to continue to indulge in the luxury of eating at restaurants, my husband and I have come up with ways to order and save money. We always thought that ordering kids meals for young children was the cheapest way to go. But we found in many cases, it’s less expensive to order one regular meal and let our two youngest children split it. We make use of coupons whenever possible, restaurant daily specials, early bird specials, and other money savers. I’m going to share some of the ways we’ve been creative in the hope that you will find some useful tips.
